CLAYTON — The Northmont Boys Basketball Camp was held June 19-22 at Northmont High School for anyone entering grades 2nd-10th.
The camp, under the direction of Head Coach Collin Abels, was split into two sessions. The Future Bolts Session, for grades 2nd-6th, was held from 9 a.m. until noon. The Middle/High School Session, for grades 7th-10th, took place from 1 to 4 p.m. The camp featured basketball fundamentals/skills, individual competitions, and team play.
Camp instructors included current coaches, current/former players, and professional basketball player and alum, Kenny Hayes. All campers received a camp T-shirt, and there were opportunities to earn prizes for individual and team accomplishments.
A total of 62 players attended the Future Bolts session and 34 attended the Middle/High School Camp session.
It is the vision of the Boys Basketball Program to create an environment that promotes the “Big Three.” The ‘Big Three” are as follows:
1. Great Citizens
2. Great Students
3. Great Basketball Players
These values must be prioritized and achieved in this order.
Our belief is that if the members of our program win in the “school community” and win in the classroom, they will win on the court. It is the mission of the Northmont Boys Basketball Program to strive for excellence in these three areas to create an environment that will produce quality human beings, quality students, and quality basketball players. Ultimately creating graduates that are productive citizens who are prepared for the “next best thing in their lives,” while giving themselves a chance to pursue their academic and athletic dreams at the next level.
