Barrett sets new district record

HUBER HEIGHTS — Melissa Barrett set a new district track record in the 800 meter run Friday at Wayne High School with a time of 2:14.65.

The former record of 2:16.32 was set in 2013 by Sarah Trick of Tippecanoe.

Leila Hill won the 300 meter hurdles in 46.18 seconds.

Both girls’ efforts helped Northmont place 2nd overall at the district meet with 113 points. Troy won the meet with 161 points and Wayne placed 3rd with 86 and Butler was fourth with 67 in a field of 12 teams.

The Northmont boys placed 3rd out of 15 teams with 81 points behind Wayne (131) and Trotwood-Madison (95.5).
