PIQUA — Brandt Cronebach signed a Letter of Intent with Edison State Community College to play baseball.

Cronebach is an outfielder and played centerfield for Northmont this past season. He was named second team All Greater Western Ohio Conference. He had a .293 batting average with 27 hits in 92 at bats with eight doubles, two triples, one home run, 17 RBI and nine stolen bases. He had a .964 fielding percentage with 54 put outs.

“We are very excited to have Brandt as part of our program,” said Edison State Coach Scott Jones.

Brandt plays summer ball for the Dayton Classics.

This past season was Edison State’s first official season in National Junior College Athletic Association Division II. Edison plays in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference along with Sinclair, Cuyahoga, Lakeland, Owens, and Clark State. Edison finished 22-24 this spring.

“Our conference was a strong one this season having three nationally ranked teams in Sinclair, Owens, and Cuyahoga,” Jones said.

Jones and assistant coach John Young are both Northmont graduates. Young played for Rick Dill during his high school years, then went on to play for the University of Cincinnati and then played professionally for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Jones played for Chuck Harlow in high school, went on to play at Miami University, and then was drafted and played for the Boston Red Sox.

“One of our main goals is to bring in quality student athletes and to help get them to Division I programs,” Jones added. “We are really trying to build a great program. We are always excited when we can bring on one of our own from Northmont. Coach Harlow spoke very highly of Brandt and I’m sure he will make a great addition to our program as we move forward to compete for a conference championship next season.”
