ENGLEWOOD — Angie Hoschouer, Manager of Development and Marketing, provided the Northmont Rotary with an entertaining presentation regarding Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum.
She spoke about the fact that in addition to being a cemetery, Woodland is also an arboretum with an interesting variety of trees, plants, and birds. Further, it is the final resting place for such notables as the Wright Brothers, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Erma Bombeck, as well as some inventors, robbers, murderers and counterfeiters.
A number of events are scheduled at the cemetery, such as Woodland Bird Walks and Migrations (the cemetery with its lush greenery, is one of the best places to watch birds), 5K/10K Walks/Runs, and the ever popular Woof Walk jointly sponsored with the Humane Society of Greater Dayton.
Other activities are the Mausoleum Tour; the History, Mystery, Mayhem, and Murder Tour (usually done during the daylight but is done after dark in October); Woodland Days Historical Tours, the Women of Woodland Tour; the Sports Legends Tour; and the Annual Holiday Floral Display and Ornament Decorating.
