Police reports from Northmont area law enforcement agencies

The following information has been provided by Northmont area police departments. The information listed in this column is considered public record and is available to anyone seeking information concerning what is provided below.

For purposes of this column, the term “arrested” or “charged” does not necessarily mean the person was taken into physical custody. It could also indicate that a summons was issued to the subject in lieu of physical custody.

All the people listed as “arrested” or “charged” are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Monday, March 21

City of Englewood

Report 16-016819: Unknown subjects removed a purse hidden beneath a blanket from a vehicle parked in the Kroger lot.

Report 16-016836: Unknown subjects broke into a pair of cars parked in the lot of Pet Valu. One vehicle had its passenger side broken and a purse removed from the floor. The purse contained three different prescription medications, an Indiana driver’s license, a Social Security card, checks, debit and credit cards and an expired passport. The second vehicle had its left rear driver’s window broken and a book bag removed that was full of books and Lenovo laptop computer issued by the Miami Valley Career Technology Center.

Report 16-016838: A married couple reported that they had received a letter from the Internal Revenue Service stating that someone had filed a 1040 form using their information. They informed the IRS that this was not a valid tax return. The couple requested to file a report for identity theft.

Tuesday, March 22

City of Englewood

Report 16-016923: A 16-year-old male was charged with domestic violence and was transported to the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center.

Report 16-016965: Unknown subjects damaged several washing machines and a dryer in the laundry room at the Villas of Englewood. Several coin boxes on the laundry equipment had been damaged. The dryer coin box and one washing coin box had been removed along with an unknown amount of cash. A rusted tire iron was found lying in a mulch bed but it is ont known if it was used during the theft.

Wednesday, March 23

City of Clayton

Report 16-630: Burglary was reported in the Tree Glen Way where an unknown subject removed an electric guitar from an apartment.

City of Englewood

Report 16-017312: Crystal M. Welch, 28, of Richmond, IN, was charged with theft at Wal-Mart. She was issued a court summons and released.

Thursday, March 24

City of Clayton

Report 16-642: The theft of merchandise was reported at Circle K where unknown male subjects placed snack food items in their pockets and left the business without paying.

Report 16-641: Unknown subjects shattered the rear window on a vehicle parked in the lot of Good Samaritan North Health Center. Nothing was taken from the vehicle despite laptop computer lying in plain view. Police found a large jagged rock on the passenger side floorboard.

Report 16-640: Unknown subjects shattered the driver’s side window on a vehicle parked in the lot of the Stillwater Center. Surveillance cameras capture footage of a possible suspect. A bald, white male, approximately 35 years of age and 220 pounds wearing a white button down shirt and khaki pants was observed on the footage walking around in the parking lot. He also had an unknown tattoo on his left forearm. Medium sized landscaping rocks were found near the damaged vehicle. The suspect matches the description of a male that was observed in the Samaritan North Health Center parking lot where another vehicle also had a window shattered.

Report 16-638: Police responded to a domestic dispute on Valley Oak Court. Officers stayed on scene while one of the people involved in the verbal argument packed items to leave the residence.

Saturday, March 26

City of Clayton

Report 16-652: A 1992 Chevrolet Caprice was stolen from the lot of Garden Woods Apartments. The victim stopped to visit a friend, fell asleep and when he got up to leave discovered his vehicle was missing. He stated his vehicle was locked and he had the only set of keys.

Sunday, March 27

City of Clayton

Report 16-663: A 1989 GMC van stolen out of Dayton on March 26 was found abandoned behind an apartment in the 7800 block of N. Main St.

City of Englewood

Report 16-017978: Brent S. Jacobs, 19, of Tipp City, was charged with driving under the influence, possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia, driving an unsafe vehicle and driving under the influence over the legal limit. He registered at .142 percent on a breath intoxilyzer test. He was issued a court summons and released to a relative.
