The following information has been provided by Northmont area police departments. The information listed in this column is considered public record and is available to anyone seeking information concerning what is provided below.

For purposes of this column, the term “arrested” or “charged” does not necessarily mean the person was taken into physical custody. It could also indicate that a summons was issued to the subject in lieu of physical custody.

All the people listed as “arrested” or “charged” are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Saturday, June 6

Clay Township

Report 15-1119-05: A resident of Dodson Road reported credit card fraud. The victim, who still had possession of the credit card, reported that an unknown subject had used his card information to make a purchase at a Shell station in Columbia, South Carolina totaling more than $65. An attempt to make a purchase at a Wal-Mart in the same city was denied. The victim is unsure how his credit card information was obtained.

Monday, June 8

City of Englewood

Report 15-030323: Violation of a temporary protection order was reported in the 1000 block of Meadowrun Rd.

Report 15-030430: Michael Frost, 34, at large, was charged with aggravated menacing at the Chateau Apartments. Charges were forwarded to Vandalia Municipal Court, which will issue Frost a summons to appear.

Tuesday, June 9

City of Clayton

Report 15-1120: Burglary was reported in the 8300 block of Inwood Ave. The victim reported that unknown subjects entered an unlocked door and went directly to the master bedroom and removed two firearms that were lying on the nightstand next to the bed. Due to a power outage the victim’s spouse left the door unlocked and the garage door open when she left to go pick up one of their children. Stolen was a Smith & Wesson Model 36 blue, .38-caliber revolver and an unknown make .25 caliber semiautomatic with a pearl handgrip.

Clay Township

Report 15-1374-06: Gross sexual imposition with a victim under the age of 13 was reported at Melody Pool. An investigation is pending.

Wednesday, June 10

City of Englewood

Report 15-030766: Unknown subjects spray painted “Thank You” on the side of a business on Alta Avenue and damaged a stone ledge on the front of the building. The business owner believes subjects who have been skate boarding on the property caused the damage. He asked that the subjects be trespassed from the property.

City of Union

Report 15-030788: Angela Lafeir, 41, of Union, was charged with aggravated menacing in the 100 block of Parkgrove Drive where a Vectren employee reported a resident pulled a gun while he was trying to shut off gas service. Charges were forwarded to Vandalia Municipal Court which will issue Lafier a summons to appear.

Report 15-030708: Randi Fontenot, 28, of Englewood, was charged with driving under the influence and failure to maintain marked lanes of travel. She was issued a court summons and released to a sober friend.

Thursday, June 11

City of Clayton

Report 15-1137: Unknown subjects cut several lines to the central air conditioning units behind Dayton Artificial Limb and also cut a padlock on a door. Two metal ramps were also stolen.

Clay Township

Report 15-1394-06: Police responded to an address on N. Preble County Line Road on the report of an overdose. The victim was transported to Grandview Hospital for treatment.

Report 15-1142: Unknown subjects removed a Stihl brand backpack leaf blower and Stihl string trimmer from a work vehicle parked in the 4100 block of Honeybrook Ave. The theft took place between 4:30 and 5:15 p.m.

City of Englewood

Report 15-030997: Kristen Kimble Vanatta, 28, of Clayton 45415, was charged with theft at Meijer. She was issued a court summons and released.

Report 15-031014: Police responded to Meijer on as past theft complaint. Store security advised that on June 7 an unknown male subject entered the store, selected a camera and a headset from stock and fled the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Security agents notified other area Meijer stores of the theft. The Kettering store identified the suspect by name, but was unable to provide an Ohio driver’s license number or date of birth for the suspect.

Report 15-031052: A 16-year-old female was charged with theft at Wal-Mart. She was released to a relative. Charges were forwarded to juvenile court.

Report 15-031076: Leann M. Howard, 36, of Dayton 45417, was charged with theft at Wal-Mart. She was transported to the county jail.

Friday, June 12

City of Englewood

Report 15-031220: A be on the lookout was broadcast by the Ohio State Patrol regarding a vehicle driving reckless on westbound Interstate 70 with a female driver hanging out the window. The registration returned to a stolen vehicle from Dayton. An officer located the vehicle in the drive thru at McDonald’s on Main Street occupied by two white females. The vehicle exited the drive thru and parked in the lot. The officer pulled behind the vehicle and the passenger got out and began walking towards Motel 6. The officer ordered the passenger to stop but she continued to walk away. A second officer arrived and also ordered the passenger to stop but she continued to disobey police orders. The driver exited the car and was ordered to get on the ground. As the passenger continued to walk away the first officer on scene pointed her service weapon at the passenger and yelled for her to get on the ground as the second officer continued to follow the suspect on foot. The passenger eventually complied. The driver of the stolen vehicle, Carolyn M. Rife, 29, of Dayton 45403, had an active warrant for her arrest issued by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The passenger, Hayley Moore, 24, of Huber Heights, had an active warrant for her arrest issued by Huber Heights Police. Both women were taken into custody on the warrants. Rife was also charged with receiving stolen property. Rife and Moore were transported to the county jail.

Report 15-031273: Paul J. Boothby, 49, of New Lebanon, was charged with theft at Wal-Mart. She was issued a court summons and released.

Saturday, June 13

City of Englewood

Report 15-031501: Janesha L. Smith, 18, of Dayton 45405, was charged with theft at Wal-Mart. She was transported to the county jail.
