The following information has been provided by Northmont area police departments. The information listed in this column is considered public record and is available to anyone seeking information concerning what is provided below.

For purposes of this column, the term “arrested” or “charged” does not necessarily mean the person was taken into physical custody. It could also indicate that a summons was issued to the subject in lieu of physical custody.

All the people listed as “arrested” or “charged” are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Friday, June 16

Clay Township

Report 17-12695-06: The theft of a Rubbermaid compost bin from a yard was reported in the 8900 block of National Road.

Sunday, June 18

Clay Township

Report 17-12946-06: Paul C. Doughman III, 43, of Arcanum, was charged with driving under the influence and driving under the influence over the legal limit. He registered at .230 percent on a breath intoxilyzer test. He was issued a court summons and released at his home.

Monday, June 19

City of Englewood

Report 17-036080: Edward A. Blair, 44, of New Lebanon, was charged with theft without consent at Walmart and resisting arrest. Due to having an elevated heart rate he was admitted to the Samaritan North Emergency Room where he was issued a summons to appear in court.

Tuesday, June 20

City of Englewood

Report 17-036222: Seth A. Brock, 22, of Richmond, Ind., was charged with theft at Walmart and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Wednesday, June 21

City of Clayton

Report 17-1209: Theft was reported at United Christian Church. A church worker observed a small maroon truck parked by the detached garage and later discovered that two brown storage benches were missing from the open shelter patio connected to the garage, but a metal bed frame and some clothes were left behind.

City of Englewood

Report 17-036362: Police responded to the Hampton Inn on a dispute involving an employee that had just been terminated. The employee was terminated for allegedly sleeping in the break room during work hours. The employee poked his manager in the face, choked him, punched him on the right side of his face, and then slammed him onto a desk and onto the break room table. Ja-mjuan D. Young, 25, of Trotwood, was charged with assault and was trespassed from the property. Charges were filed through Vandalia Municipal Court.

Report 17-036398: Kimberly D. Norris, 36, of Dayton 45405, was charged with possession of marijuana and theft without consent at Meijer. She was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Report 17-036417: A 17-year-old male was charged with theft at Meijer and was transported to the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center.

Report 17-036436: Chad A. Baker, 28, of Clayton 45415, was charged with theft at Meijer and was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Report 17-036563: Police responded to Speedway on a past occurred theft. Video surveillance revealed an unknown male subject entered the Beer Cave and placed a six pack of Milwaukee’s Best Ice and two cans of Four Loco in a plastic Kroger shopping bag. He then walked to the front of the store and used his cell phone and exited the store a short time later without offering payment. Management wishes to pursue criminal charges and to trespass the subject if he returns to the store.

Clay Township

Report 17-13455-06: Andrew A. Wilhelm, 31, of Portland, Ind., was arrested on an active warrant issued by Western Division Court for failure to appear. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Friday, June 23

City of Englewood

Report 17-036713: An unknown subject entered a vehicle parked in the 2000 block of Northcreek Drive and removed a men’s wallet containing $100 cash, a driver’s license, a Huntington debit card and a Fifth Third debit card.

Report 17-036741: An unknown subject entered an SUV parked in the 1100 block of Sunset Drive and removed a DVD player.

Report 17-036752: An unknown subject entered an unlocked vehicle parked on Lauren Circle, opened the trunk and stole a speaker box containing a pair of 12-inch Premier subwoofers and a Power Acoustic’s amplifier. Total loss was set at $600.

Report 17-036857: Brooke A. Wright, 27, of New Lebanon, was charged with theft at Walmart and was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Report 17-036871: Marvin L. Haynes, 54, of Englewood, was charged with domestic violence. He fled prior to police arrival. Charges were filed through Vandalia Municipal Court.

Report 17-036901: An unknown subject broke into a car parked on Lauren Circle and removed an unknown amount of loose change. The driver’s door was damaged during the break in.

Clay Township

Report 17-13782-06: Weslie D. Gierhart, 52, of Winchester, Ind., was charged with having fictitious registration and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a court summons and released.

Saturday, June 24

City of Clayton

Report 17-2221: An officer on patrol was nearly struck head-on by a car that was traveling west on Westbrook Road. The vehicle turned from Main Street onto Westbrook, crossed the centerline and forced the officer to swerve to avoid a collision. The officer turned around to follow the vehicle and observed it cross the centerline several more times. A traffic stop was made and after approaching the driver noticed his eyes were very bloodshot and glassy, his speech was slurred and detected a strong odor of alcohol. The driver asked why he been pulled over and the officer informed him it was due to his swerving over the centerline and nearly striking his patrol vehicle. The driver stated it was because of the rims and alignment on his car. He denied consuming any alcohol. After failing a series of field sobriety tests the driver registered at .130 percent on a breath intoxilyzer test. Andre S. Berry, 26, of Dayton 45406, was charged with marked lanes of travel, operating a vehicle intoxicated and operating a vehicle over the legal limit. Berry was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

City of Englewood

Report 17-036979: Police responded to Waffle House on the report of a theft from a vehicle. An unknown subject broke into a locked vehicle and removed a purse containing $450 cash, various prescription medications, credit cards, and personal identification.

Report 17-037027: Stephanie M. Cassel, 26, of Englewood, was charged with theft without consent at Walmart. She was issued a court summons and released.

Clay Township

Report 17-13952-06: Darrell L. Clark, 43, of Celina, was arrested on two warrants; one through Western Division Court and one through Greene County Juvenile Court, both for failure to appear. Clark was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Sunday, June 25

City of Clayton

Report 17-1228: While on patrol an officer observed a vehicle traveling east on Westbrook Road come to a stop at the red light at the Garber Road intersection. Immediately after stopping the vehicle turned left onto Garber while the light was still red. A traffic stop was initiated. As the officer approached car from the passenger side he observed the driver placing an object under the rear of the driver’s seat. While speaking with the driver the officer detected a strong odor or marijuana coming from the vehicle. After a second officer arrived the driver was asked to step out of his vehicle. Upon exiting the driver stated that he had marijuana in the vehicle. He stated he had hidden it beneath his seat but moved it to the glove box. Police found a Baggie containing marijuana in the glove box and a digital scale in the map pouch behind the passenger seat. Anthony J. Shepard, 20, of Union, was charged with failure to obey a traffic control device, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a court summons and released.

City of Englewood

Report 17-037228: Police responded to Northmont Plaza on the report of an unconscious male lying next to a light pole in the parking lot near the Goodwill store. It appeared the male had been dropped off and left in the lot by someone. The top and bottom caps of a hypodermic needle were found near the subject but no needle was located. Medics arrived and administered Narcan and a short time later the male gained consciousness. He told medic crews that he had taken two capsules of heroin. He was not aware that he was in Englewood or how he got there. He was transported to Good Samaritan North Emergency Room. Joshua N. Gearhart, 36, of Troy, was charged with disorderly conduct while voluntarily intoxicated and issued a court summons.

Monday, June 26

City of Clayton

Report 17-1239: Police responded to the Wolf Creek Apartments on Cotillion Court on the report of subject with a possible warrant banging on a door. Upon arrival the subject was observed pounding on an apartment door. Douglas N. Collins, 21, of Clayton, was arrested on a warrant issued by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. He was transported to the county jail.
