Northmont area police reports

The following information has been provided by Northmont area police departments. The information listed in this column is considered public record and is available to anyone seeking information concerning what is provided below.

For purposes of this column, the term “arrested” or “charged” does not necessarily mean the person was taken into physical custody. It could also indicate that a summons was issued to the subject in lieu of physical custody.

All the people listed as “arrested” or “charged” are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuesday, Feb. 14

City of Union

Report 17-009074: Police responded to the 200 block of W. Martindale Road on the report of a subject threatening others with a baseball bat. After arriving the officer found an off-duty state trooper had an intoxicated subject detained. The trooper was picking up his child when he came upon a shirtless man charging at a man and a woman in the street. The trooper identified himself, drew his weapon and ordered the man to drop the bat, to which he complied. The man tried to leave the scene in his vehicle but due to his intoxicated state was detained by the trooper. The man was highly agitated and the officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath. The officer made the man sit on the curb but he continued to yell at other subjects and acted disorderly, so he was placed in handcuffs and placed in a patrol car. Paul D. Anderson, 21, of Vandalia, was charged with driving while under the influence, refusal of a breath test, aggravated menacing, menacing, criminal damaging and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also served with a criminal trespass warning for a residence in the 200 block of W. Martindale Road. Anderson was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Report 17-009219: The theft of a wedding ring was reported at Proctor & Gamble. The victim stated that the ring must have fallen off during his shift.

Friday, Feb. 17

City of Union

Report 17-009672: Identity fraud was reported on Mill Ridge Circle.

Report 17-009704: Police were dispatched to Proctor & Gamble on the report of a fight in the break room. A victim was located covered in blood and was treated by Union Medic 81. Witnesses said the victim was attacked, knocked out and was repeatedly struck after he had been knocked out. Robert W. Rainey, 33, of Miamisburg, was charged with disorderly conduct – fighting. He was terminated from employment, trespassed from the property, issued a court summons and released.

Tuesday, Feb. 21

City of Union

Report 17-010591: Samantha J. Lapham, 43, of West Milton, was charged with telecommunications harassment. She was issued a court summons.

Friday, Feb. 24

City of Union

Report 17-011360: A 15-year-old male was charged with criminal damaging in the 100 block of McCraw. Charges were forwarded to Montgomery County Juvenile Court.

Monday, Feb. 27

City of Union

Report 17-011909: Credit card fraud was reported on Shoemaker Lane. The victim stated that their credit card number had been used at a Walmart in Franklin without their consent.

Wednesday, March 1

City of Union

Report 17-012542: A 13-year-old female was charged with domestic violence and was transported to the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center.

Thursday, March 2

City of Union

Report 17-012712: Michael M. Mangold, 24, of West Carrollton, was charged with violating a protection order. Mangold was taken into custody by West Carrollton Police, released to a Union officer and incarcerated in the Montgomery County Jail.

Report 17-012741: Criminal damaging to a window screen was reported on Charles Place. Thomas S. Block, 18, of Union, and a 16-year-old male from Englewood, were both charged with criminal damaging and issued a summons to appear in court.

Clay Township

Report 17-2819-03: Police responded to the 11900 block of Pansing Road on a heroin overdose. Medics were unable to revive the victim, who was prounounced dead at 10:22 a.m. Police found a spoon with a small piece of cotton on the bathroom counter and two syringe needles in contianers on the floor as well as a syringe with an unknown mixture of liquid in it on the counter.

Monday, March 6

City of Englewood

Report 17-013397: Marquis A. Holmes, 20, and Carlos J. Martin, 18, both of Dayton 45417 along with a 15-year-old male from Dayton 45405, were each charged with theft at Walmart. Holmes and Martin were transported to the Montgomery County Jail and the juvenile to the juvenile detention center.

City of Union

Report 17-013395: Jakera N. Lewis, 25, of Dayton 45417, was charged with driving under suspension and possession of marijuana in the parking lot of Proctor & Gamble. She was issued a court summons and released.

Report 17-013538: Police responded to the 100 block of Maple Gardens Drive on the report of an intentional heroin overdose. Medics administered several does of Narcan before the subject was revived. Matthew J. McKinney, 43, of Union, was charged with disorderly conduct and possessing drug abuse instruments. He was transported to Good Samaritan North Emergency Room and issued a court summons.

Tuesday, March 7

City of Englewood

Report 17-013637: Samantha R. Tippie, 25, of Englewood, was charged with disorderly conduct for sending text messages threatening suicide to her boyfriend during a child custody dispute the two are involved in. Tippie was taken into custody and transported to Grandview Hospital for a mental evaluation and released to the care of hospital staff.

Report 17-013760: Tantani’a Q. Dorsey, 26, of Clayton, was charged with theft at Meijer. She was issued a court summons.

City of Union

Report 17-013778: Michael M. Mangold, 24, of West Carrollton, was charged with violating a protection order. Charges were forwarded to Vandalia Municipal Court.

Clay Township

Report 17-3642-03: Police responded to the 8700 block of Number Nine Road on the report of a dog bite. A 2-year-old boy was bitten on the face by a Labrador causing several puncture wounds. The child was playing on the floor when the bite occurred. The dog was not licensed and the owner could not locate vaccination records due to being upset about the incident. The child was transported by medic to Children’s Hospital. A quarantine notice was issued for the dog.

Wednesday, March 8

City of Clayton

Report 17-480: Police pulled a vehicle over for speeding and discovered the driver was a wanted subject. Alvin Sheffield, 49, of Trotwood, was charged with speeding and arrested on an active warrant. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

City of Englewood

Report 17-013960: Jacob D. Aldridge, 33, of Clayton, was charged with violating a protection order. Charges were forwarded to Vandalia Municipal Court.

City of Union

Report 17-013927: Union Fire Department put out a trash can fire in the 200 block of W. Martindale Road. A male subject said he threw a cigarette out but was sure it was not burning when he threw it out.

Thursday, March 9

City of Clayton

Report 17-492: Unknown subjects broke out the driver’s side rear opera window on a vehicle parked on Woolery Lane, popped the trunk and removed a speaker box containing two 12-inch speakers and a 1000 watt amplifier.

City of Englewood

Report 17-014047: Courtland B. Monaghan, 25, of Englewood, was charged with domestic violence and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Report 17-014299: Police responded to the Clarion Inn on a theft complaint. The bartender stated a couple had been in the bar and left without paying their bar tab. The male half left first, then the female. The male returned and tried to pay but his credit card was declined. He then took back the card and left stating that his female companion was tearing up a room at another hotel. The bartender called the Best Western Hotel and discovered the couple was staying there. The bartender told the female that the bar tab was still not paid for. The female stated the male would be back in the morning to pay, but the bartender informed her that the bill needed to be paid tonight. The female told the bartender to “piss off” and then hung up. The bartender provided police with the unpaid bill and a receipt showing that the credit card had been declined. Police were then dispatched to Best Western for a disorderly conduct complaint. Police discovered the same couple were involved in that incident as well. Dispatch advised the male had thrown a naked female into the hallway and left here there. Three different rooms called to complain of loud noise and arguing coming from the couple’s room. Police placed the male in handcuffs, who claimed he had done nothing wrong. He claimed the bar tab belonged to the female and that he wasn’t going to pay a bar tab for a stripper. Robert A. Chandler, 39, of Jenks, OK was charged with theft and disorderly conduct. He was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Friday, March 10

City of Clayton

Report 17-498: Phillip J. Newland, 34, of Middletown, was charged with driving under suspension for operating a vehicle intoxicated, slow speed and no operator’s license. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Report 17-500: Duncan J. Upp, 36, of Union, was charged with speeding, operating a vehicle intoxicated, and refusal of a breath test. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

City of Englewood

Report 17-014413: Ralph D. Lynch, 50, of Dayton 45403, was charged with theft at Meijer. He was issued a court summons and released.

Sunday, March 12

City of Englewood

Report 17-014711: Police responded to Steak ‘n Shake on the report of an assault. When police arrived an employee was holding the suspect on the floor. Tables had been pushed out of the way and items were lying on the floor broken where a struggle had occurred. Witnesses advised that the suspect had assaulted a female and had bitten a Steak ‘n Shake manager in the neck. The female victim stated she observed the suspect arguing with some friends. The suspect looked at her and growled and then grabbed her by the hair and pushed her to the floor before restaurant workers intervened. The manager advised he was bitten in the neck while trying to assist the female. Khalid D. Owings, 18, of Dayton 45405, was charged with two counts of assault and one count of criminal damaging. He was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Report 17-014726: Brian A. Brown, 36, of Trotwood, was charged with driving under the influence, failure to maintain marked lanes and open container. He was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

City of Union

Report 17-014832: Credit card fraud was reported in the 100 block of Irongate. The victim’s ex-wife admitted to using the card without authorization.

Report 17-014844: Ashley N. Stahl, 38, of Union, was charged with driving while under the influence. She was issued a court summons and released at her residence.
