Police reports from Northmont area law enforcement agencies

The following information has been provided by Northmont area police departments. The information listed in this column is considered public record and is available to anyone seeking information concerning what is provided below.

For purposes of this column, the term “arrested” or “charged” does not necessarily mean the person was taken into physical custody. It could also indicate that a summons was issued to the subject in lieu of physical custody.

All the people listed as “arrested” or “charged” are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Friday, Sept. 23

Clay Township

Report 16-2673-09: An officer responded to the 6500 block of Phillipsburg-Union Road to check on the welfare of a subject. Upon arrival the officer observed a white male wearing only boxer shorts and socks walking in the roadway. The officer identified the 22-year-old male who was covered in sweat and had superficial scratches on his chest from running through a corn field. The male began pacing back and forth in front of the officer’s cruiser. When asked if everything was OK the male stated that he was just trying to walk to Phillipsburg. When asked where his clothes were the male said that he had taken his clothing off somewhere in the corn field, was tired of running, stated that he hadn’t slept in three days and just wanted help. The male was placed in the backseat of the police cruiser to await the arrival of a medic. The officer had the medic transport the subject to Grandview Hospital for a mental health evaluation. The officer then contacted the male’s parents to update them on the situation of their son.

Monday, Sept. 26

City of Clayton

Report 16-2280: Sean L. Taylor, 43, of Clayton, was charged with assault following an argument with his girlfriend. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

City of Union

Report 16-053783: Police responded to Shaw Road on a suspicious incident. The resident stated he heard a loud boom coming from the rear of the residence. Before opening the door he heard another boom. When he open the inner rear door he discovered the exterior door glass was broken. The inner pane of glass was not broken. A substantial amount of glass was spread all over the patio, a cooking table, a patio table at the edge of the grass six to seven feet from the door. There was no visible damage to the door, the frame or the wall near the door. The remaining glass in the window frame was bowed outward toward the yard indicating the force to break the glass came from the inside. It is undetermined what caused the glass to break.

City of Union

Report 16-054127: The theft of two FedEx packages was reported in the 400 block of Applegate Drive.

Thursday, Sept. 29

City of Union

Report 16-054420: Dispatch advised of a burglary involving a shooting had taken place on County Line Road with a gray Honda fleeing the scene. The suspect involved had been possibly shot and was fleeing the scene possibly on Rinehart Road toward Phillipsburg-Union Road. An officer searched both roads but did not locate any vehicles. The officer then saw a male subject standing by the side of the road waving his arms. The officer recognized the male from an earlier theft of mail report. The male stated that people broke into his home and tried to shoot him. He stated he shot one of the suspects in the leg and that he was lying in the ditch. The officer located a black male lying in the ditch dressed in all black clothing. The officer asked him if he had been shot and he confirmed that he had been and he thought he had been hit in the leg. Medics arrived and found the male was shot in the abdomen. Other officers from West Milton and Union arrived and a Union officer located a small black revolver lying in the grass next to the roadway near the subject that had been shot. Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene and took control. The incident occurred in West Milton.

Saturday, Oct. 1

City of Clayton

Report 16-2328: Police responded to United Dairy Farmers on the report of a theft with the vehicle the suspect entered still parked in front of the store. Upon arrival an officer approached the vehicle and the front seat passenger admitted to the theft. A passenger in the back seat was found to be a wanted subject. Amanda S. Jenkins, 32, of Camden was charged with theft and possession of drug abuse paraphernalia. Dustin W. Elam, 27, of Eaton, was charged with theft and was arrested on a warrant through Montgomery County for failure to appear. Jenkins and Elam were transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

City of Union

Report 16-054747: Mitchell D. Brown, 26, of Union, was charged with driving while under the influence, seat belt and speeding. He registered at .118 percent on a breath intoxilyzer test. He was issued a court summons and released to his girlfriend.

Sunday, Oct. 2

City of Clayton

Report 16-2334: Menacing was reported in the 5400 block of Westbrook Road.

Report 16-2337: Police responded to the 4600 block of Wenger Road on the report of shots being fired. An officer observed two rifles in the back yard; one resting on a table and the other on the ground a few yards away from a target posted in the back yard. Two males stated they were not aware of the city’s updated ordinance prohibiting discharging of weapons. Both were issued a written warning for discharge of weapons within the city limits.

Monday, Oct. 3

City of Clayton

Report 16-2339: While parked in the lot of Cognac’s at 6504 Union Road an officer heard six to seven gun shots coming from the north side of the building. The officer then observed a black male running across the parking lot away from the direction the shots were fired. Due to Cognac’s having just closed and in the process of clearing out the building the parking lot was congested with parked vehicles and vehicles stacked up trying to exit the lot with numerous patrons in the parking lot. Patrons ran when the shots were fired and cars fled the scene in all directions. A security guard flagged the officer down and stated that a vehicle pulled up, fired two rounds and immediately sped off. A female subject that fled from the shots said she was either hit by the suspect’s vehicle or that she ran into a vehicle and injured her head. She was transported to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment. The officer located the male he had observed running across the lot after the shots were fired with blood on the seat of his pants and on the front of his shirt. He advised he had been shot in the buttocks and the other bullet grazed the front of his body. Multiple medics were summoned to the scene and another officer pursued the suspect vehicle. Another officer discovered an unoccupied Chevy truck northeast of the shooting location had been struck by a bullet. A Ford Explorer was also struck by two bullets and had a flat front passenger tire. All bullet casings were photographed and collected for evidence.

City of Englewood

Report 16-055044: Matthew J. Akers, 24, of West Milton, was charged with theft at Meijer. Charges were forwarded to Vandalia Municipal Court.

16-055085: The theft of a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix from the Cedargate Apartment lot was reported.

16-055087: Kristen N. Brittain, 34, of Union, was charged with theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drugs at Meijer. She was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

City of Union

Report 16-055043: Kevin D. Ross, 25, of Trotwood, was charged with domestic violence and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Tuesday, Oct. 4

City of Clayton

Report 16-2343: A carpet power stretcher with case and a toolbox with various hand tools was reported stolen from a house in the 1100 block of Westbrook Road. It did not appear as though tools belonging to other contractors were disturbed.

City of Englewood

Report 16-055220: The theft of a Donald J. Trump campaign sign from a front yard was reported on Southview Drive.

City of Union

Report 16-055235: A resident was transported to the hospital for mental health evaluation after threatening suicide.

Wednesday, Oct. 5

City of Clayton

Report 16-2351: Police stopped a vehicle for having an inoperable headlight. Tyson D. Johnson, 28, of Dayton 45406, was charged with driving under in-state drug offense suspension. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Report 16-2357: Police stopped a vehicle on Westbrook Road for speeding and detected an odor of marijuana. The driver also admitted to having a weapon in the vehicle. A semiautomatic handgun was found between driver’s seat and center console loaded with seven rounds. Several marijuana cigarette butts were found in the center console. Dareon D. Nolan, 22, of Trotwood, was charged with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and speeding. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

City of Englewood

Report 16-055419: Police responded to McDonald’s on W. National Road on the report of a stolen cell phone. Denzel Chaz Jareese Peters, 22, of Trotwood, was charged with theft and falsification and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Report 16-055436: Evaith C. Barrett, 32, of Dayton 45416, was charged with theft at Wal-Mart. He was issued a court summons.

Thursday, Oct. 6

City of Englewood

Report 16-055670: Douglas J. Zimmerman, 51, of Englewood, was charged with theft at Wal-Mart. He was issued a court summons.

Friday, Oct. 7

City of Englewood

Report 16-055904: Josie L. Pool, 27, of Arcanum, was charged with theft at Meijer. She was issued a court summons.

Saturday, Oct. 8

City of Clayton

Report 16-2385: Unknown subjects removed two Clinton/Kaine election signs from the front yard of a residence in the 3600 block of Old Salem Road.

City of Englewood

Report 16-056080: Police responded to the Vineyard Apartments on the report of a car window being damaged. The female owner said her disabled vehicle was parked in the lot and that her boyfriend, who was angry with her, threatened to break the car window and did. Jason D. Hornaday, 23, of Englewood was charged with criminal damaging and was arrested on a warrant through the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Report 16-056098: Jason J. Brower, 41, of Springfield, was charged with driving while under the influence, expired license, failure to control and possession of drugs following a motorcycle crash. He was transported to Good Samaritan North Emergency Room for treatment and issued a court summons.

Report 16-056191: The theft of a Craftsman lawn mower was reported in the 200 block of S. Main St.

Report 16-056201: Donna D. Dixon, 44, of Englewood, was charged with assault. She was issued a court summons.

Report 16-056228: Andre B. Figures, 32, of Dayton 45402, was charged with theft at Meijer and transported to the Montgomery County Jail. Conrad M. Goode, 62, was also charged with theft at Meijer and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

City of Union

Report 16-056194: Credit card fraud was reported on McLaughlin Drive.

Sunday, Oct. 9

City of Clayton

Report 16-2395: Unknown subjects scratched a vehicle parked in the 4400 block of Satellite Ave.

Monday, Oct. 10

City of Clayton

Report 16-2396: Adrian L. Richardson, 37, of Huber Heights, was charged with driving under financial responsibility act suspension and no operator’s license. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Report 16-2398: Unknown subjects entered an unlocked work van parked on Rushleigh Road and removed numerous power tools.
